AD LABS RD-2SE DAC Features:

  • 32 kHz to 192 kHz (16-24 bit) input sampling frequency
  • Input type : optical, coaxial
  • Very short signal path
  • Ultra low jitter reference oscillator
  • Fully discrete transimpedance I/V stage
  • Black anodised aluminium case

The design philosophy of the RD-2se is concentrated on the following key-points : multiple input frequencies/bit depths and ultra accurate d/a conversion, fully discrete i/v conversion and output stage, jitter immunity regardless of the quality of the source. To achieve that a careful implementation of one of the best ic’s available was realised into a very compact design.

The digital signal is routed to flagship SRC4392 input receiver. Beside s/pdif reception, this IC performs both upsampling and jitter reduction, being clocked by a ultra-low jitter master XO. The upsampled signal are going into PCM1796 digital to analog converter which we found that, properly implemented, delivers one of the best sonics available.

Extensive LC power conditioning combined with active shunt regulation delivers clean supplies to digital and analog stages. In respect with phase accuracy very gentle filtering is applied to the signal, and no global feedback is present. The output buffer runs in single-ended class A for optimal musical performance.
