The ELAC FS 247 (2000) offers an ambitious and successful assembly processing. It sounds larger than it is and, to the middle levels, is sovereign and bassprall.

The ELAC model dominated by the initials in its FS 247, is available in cherry veneer or mocha veneer , alternatively in black high gloss finish. The letters stand for Floor Stander.

This is actually the box bomb, there is a stable base with adjustable feet for rubber spikes as well as spikes. The real case rests on four small columns that define a space. This serves as an outlet for a ground-bass reflex tube, beside a second one that assists the loudspeaker's back. By closing the back port (plugs are suitable), the user can adjust the bass character.

Two relatively small midbass drivers for bass and mids with 14 centimetres outside diameter share the cabinet. They have sandwich membranes from pulp and aluminium, and the surface it resembles the crystal shape. ELAC leaves the high register to his best JET tweeter, for his well known fresh sound.

The FS 247 has an enormous bass abundance, while the testers better liked the quieter version (with the back port sealed). Especially impressed her very detailed manner, only the desire to quit too hearty levels with a slight Kratzbürstigkeit.
